In the summer/autumn of 2021, E.F.S studied the effect of crystalline betaine in lactating dairy cows in a practical trial. The farm in Lower Saxony with a total of 600 dairy cows has a milk yield of over 12,000 kg of milk per cow per year. The 600 lactating cows were randomly divided into two feeding groups (control and experimental). Over a period of 15 weeks, crystalline betaine was added to the feed of the experimental group.
Compared to the control group the test animals demonstrated an increased milk yield of approx. 1.0 kg over the whole experimental period.
Would you like to find out more about the effect of a betaine supplement in lactating cows, or you are interested in the summary of the trial? Please contact the E.F.S. team.
